The Montreal WCE provides unique opportunities for urban youth to discover nature in their city and make a difference in their local wetlands.

Opened in 2025, the Montreal WCE currently includes École secondaire Pointe-aux-Trembles. The school, located on the east end of the island of Montreal, engages French-speaking youth with their wetlands through the WCE program. Classes make visits to nearby Parc-nature de la Pointe-aux-Prairies to learn more about wetland plants and animals. Students have also had the opportunity to visit other wetlands in Montreal, such as Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville. Furthermore, the WCE allows students to participate in national events such as webinars where they can learn about interesting subjects such as medicinal plants.

In recent years, Quebec has become a leader in wetland conservation. Wetlands in the region play a critical role in providing habitat for wild animals, acting as flood mitigation, cleaning water and acting as a carbon sink. DUC has helped with the conservation of 98,567 acres of this critical ecosystem in the province and through education, hopes to empower the next generation of wetland stewardship.
